Just when you thought the only thing rising in Dubai was the temperature and your DEWA bill… parking fees have entered the chat. Yes, darling people. The city that once let you park for nominal charges is now tightening the reins and your wallet. We know most of you all are still reeling under the recent Dubai parking fee hike that’s gotten you shelling out AED 6 per hour in a few zones, but well…that’s how life rolls here I guess. So, without further ado, let’d get into the details. Here’s the glam, the grit, and the gridlock behind it all.
Parkin Wants to Turn Up the Meter On Dubai Parking Fees
Parkin, Dubai’s largest paid public parking operator, has officially proposed a hike in public parking tariffs across the emirate.
The submission has been made to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and if approved, it will move to the Executive Council of Dubai for final sign-off. Translation? It’s serious.
Why now?
Because 2025 was a blockbuster year for Parkin – record revenues, record profits, and apparently record confidence. The company says the proposed increase would adjust the weighted-average Dubai parking tariff, following last year’s variable pricing system (which already pushed average hourly rates up by 51% after its April debut).
This time, the spotlight is on:
- Tweaks to seasonal card structures
- Adjustments to tariffs
- Reducing “price arbitrage” (read: closing loopholes between zones)
- Keeping long-term discount frameworks intact
The pitch? More “consistent and fair” pricing across Dubai.

More Parking Spaces Are Arriving In Dubai
As of end-2025, Parkin manages a jaw-dropping 229,000 paid parking spaces.
Again, it’s not stopping there.
Furthermore, the company expects to add 5,500 to 7,500 new spaces in 2026, potentially generating between Dh560 million and Dh610 million in additional revenue.
Remember when parking in Dubai was mostly free just five years ago? Cute. Fast forward to a city of 4 million residents (up from 2.5 million in 2014), and suddenly every curb looks like premium real estate.
Parking In DSO Is Going Full Digital
Now here’s where it gets futuristic.
Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) is activating a ticketless, cashless parking system — and it’s not for the technologically faint-hearted.
Managed by PARKONIC, this new setup:
- Has no physical parking machines
- Cash payment points are not needed
- No QR codes
- No paper tickets fluttering in the wind
Instead, your vehicle’s licence plate links directly to your Salik account for automatic billing.
It’s sleek, seamless and slightly terrifying if you forget you parked there.
And the pricing? Tiered and time-based — meaning what you pay depends on when you park. Peak hours = peak pricing.

Tell Me Those Ramadan Dubai Parking Fees In Dubai Again!?
Lastly, before you panic-park outside a mosque at iftar, here’s the holy month lowdown.
During Ramadan, most paid parking zones (Monday to Saturday) will follow a two-shift system:
- 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
- 8:00 pm – 12:00 am (midnight)
Peak hours across all zones:
- 8:00 am – 10:00 am
- 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Good news:
- Multi-storey parking remains 24/7
- Mosque parking (zones M and MP) is free throughout Ramadan
Well, so much for small mercies, I guess.
Should I Be Worried About Parking Fee Hike Yet?
Not yet. At the moment, these are still proposals.
However, if approved, expect:
- Slightly heavier parking bills
- Fewer zone loopholes
- Smarter (read: stricter) systems
- And more digital surveillance of your spontaneous shawarma stops
So, yes, Dubai is growing, evolving, and monetising. Elegantly, of course.
And you? Well, let’s just say that you might just need to add “strategic parking” to your life skills.
